The Weekly LOdown

Hello and welcome back to The Weekly LOdown - where we gather our favorite links from the architecture and building industry and share them with you each and every Friday.

This week’s LOdown talks abstract art, paper construction and LEGOS! Here’s what we’ve been clicking:

Feelings Are FactsThis is one of those links that grabbed my attention right from the headline - Feelings are Facts. The featured exhibition is bizarre, abstract, unique, and a plethora of other adjectives, none of which can fully describe the experience I imagine you’d have by walking through the display of fog and lights. Even though I can’t witness the installation first-hand, I appreciate the concept and feel it’s worth sharing.

Paper CreationsI’ve highlighted the Sherwin-Williams commercial that made me look at paint chips in a different way on the blog in the past, and this week, I came across the print ads. If you love Real Simple magazine as much as I do, the work may look familiar, as the creations were done by the magazine’s paper constructionist, Matthew Sporzynski. If I had the time and the patience, I’d attempt to be a paper constructionist (which is the coolest-sounding job title) with all the paint chips I have in my house. Something tells me that my creations would not resemble anything recognizable, so I’ll settle for admiring Matthew’s creations.

LEGO Architecture

The National Building Museum is hosting a new exhibit called LEGO: Architecture Towering Ambition. It’s amazing how architect Adam Reed Tucker has been able to recreate some of the world’s most famous buildings. The exhibit opens tomorrow, so go and see the incredible work of one of only 11 LEGO Certified Professionals in the world!

Any thoughts or opinions? Any links that you found particularly interesting this week? Post them below in the comments section.
