Summer officially ends September 22, but for us who experience all four seasons, it seems to end much sooner. Summer used to end with back to school madness. Trapper keepers and new shoe shopping replaced days riding bicycles and running down ice cream trucks. Growing up has its downsides and working all summer is certainly one of them.

Here in Pittsburgh, our summer only seemed to have started in early August. Unseasonable temperatures and weather pushed back pool days and cookouts. And only a few weeks later, the forecast calls for weather in the 60’s and 70’s over the next ten days. Our shortened summer has forced us to cram three months of pool lounging, sports and camping (or sun burn, sweating and mosquito bites, depending on your view of summer) into three weeks, no easy task.

But when life hands you a lemon late to the party, you still need to add in some vodka and party like it’s September 21st. This week, in the spirit of making the most of summer (and awesome Speed Racer T-shirts), we’re rocking DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince’s “Summertime.”
