Just as its title suggests, Jetson Green is a blog that seeks out the most innovative, visually striking and functionally futuristic buildings and building systems on earth – or the universe for that matter. But unlike the blog’s whimsical namesake, everything you see here is real. Jetson Green is dedicated to promoting and contributing to the future of both residential and commercial buildings and products - the future being sustainability, affordability, responsibility…green.
JG is an online haven for everything that has anything to do with green building and eco-friendly architecture. Launched in 2006 by then MBA student Preston Koerner, the site has grown into a well-regarded hub of forward-thinking commentary on the state of sustainable architecture. Not to mention, Koerner in just three years has become somewhat of a green guru in both online and offline architectural circles.
The site’s look and layout takes on the same characteristics as the architecture it praises – smart, clean and simple. Amongst a great deal of content which is updated daily, navigation remains easy and first-time visitors won’t get overwhelmed. Overall, JG exudes a high-end design without anything superfluous – a difficult style to achieve. Comments and contributions are encouraged, and there is a real community feel brought on by a common goal.
Jetson Green’s goal is “to help you become as obsessed with green building as we are” - to create a universal demand for cleaner living, cleaner working, and environmental responsibility. We will never experience a “futuristic utopia” like that of a certain animated family of the 1960s, but through outlets like Jetson Green, we can contribute to the movement and send a message that is compelling and unfailingly optimistic.
